What is Practical Completion(PC) ?
Practical Completion is the milestone where a building is deemed complete enough for the client to take possession.At this point, the work must be substantially complete, with only minor defects remaining.For builders, the PC clean is the last chance to present the project at its best—stains, dust, and construction debris can turn an otherwise excellent build into a defect - laden handover.
The PC Cleaning Standard
A PC clean isn't a "tidy up." It's a detailed, methodical process that should leave every surface in a move -in -ready condition.The standard typically expected is:
- All surfaces free of dust, debris, and construction residue
- All glass cleaned streak - free, inside and out
- All joinery wiped, including inside cupboards and drawers
- All fixtures polished and free of protective film
- All floors swept, mopped, or scrubbed depending on surface
- All external areas pressure washed or swept

Once a zone is cleaned, have it "signed off" and prevent trades from re - entering.Nothing frustrates more than re - cleaning areas because a plumber came back to fix a tap.
